Belly Week 17

Belly Week 17

Physically feeling really good but emotionally I am a little all over the board.
The belly book asks this week

My appetite is currently the size of
Rhode Island, Texas, The Louisiana Purchase

If it had asked 2 weeks ago I would have said The Louisiana Purchase but honestly this week it is more like Rhode Island.
Funny how it changes so often.

I often wake up once a night to pee now and it is typically 3:30 am-4:30 am. I'm assuming the little "onion" (that is the size the book I have refers to this week) wakes up at that time and decides to start dancing around so then my bladder needs a bit of a break.

Rhett has been extremely busy with his farming lately. He unfortunately hit a deer in his new truck. Yuck yuck!! It did a good amount of damage to it. He also recently put some fish in our lake/pond/the dog's swimming hole whatever you want to call it. It now has approx 50 fish in it and hopefully they eat all of the million tadpoles swimming around. The dogs just love having the water so close and randomly swim throughout the day.

I really feel like I should be doing something productive to get ready for this baby......
My Mom, sister, & I went on a short little trip to check out cribs, dressers, and chairs. We checked out Babies R Us and Baby Depot at Burlington. If any mothers out there have opinions or thoughts on buying baby furniture this is the moment where you share your wisdom with me! Please fill me in.
Of course at Babies R Us the set I absolutely loved was one of the higher priced ones.
Have also been looking online at Simply Baby Furniture.
Aunt Jaimee gave me the largest bag possible full of baby clothes for our little one. I already have it all hanging up in the closet. I do realize it will all have to be washed eventually so hanging it all up is probably pointless but I was having so much fun!!

Had my 4th drs appointment on 5-28-13.
Was able to see Sylvia at Women's HealthCare in Spart so that was extremely convenient.
No issues or c/o makes for a fast easy appointment.
I did mention that have not felt movement yet so they checked the heartbeat with the doppler on top of my belly. Also took a quick peek with the us machine. Will have another appt in 1 month with Sylvia in Sparta again.
I got some folders with info on both St. E's & Memorial. Looking at which place to deliver and seeing what kind of classes are available to attend. At this point I have gained 10 lbs (by my scale) and I feel ok with that. I know everyone is different so I think as long as I feel good and keep exercising. I am looking forward to swimming a lot this summer because I have a feeling it's going to be a HOT one.

Loving Pinterest right now!!!

All Kinds of Kisses

Belly Weeks 14, 15, 16

Cravings for the moment included popsicles, popsicles, & more popsicles. It wasn't even really that hot outside during this time but I just constantly want to eat them. Also was craving Subway often. I sure wish the sno-cone place would open in Red Bud. I think I drive past it once a week checking.

Current philosophy when it comes to cravings:
mind over matter vs give the belly what it wants
WHAT DO YOU THINK??

Still have not bought any maternity clothes just wearing what fits from my closet. None of my smallest size jeans fit but I did actually wear a pair of khakis the other day that were fine. I have lots of clothes that are bigger from losing my weight before the wedding so I should be set for a while. Good thing I didn't throw everything out! Brooke says she still can't tell I am pregnant but I sure can. My belly is def different than how it was before. I think I just hide it well under clothes so it is hard to tell. Is this a good or bad thing not looking preggo........Some days I think it stinks because I just feel fat again but then I do realize eventually I will be huge so still feeling small now is a good thing.

During week 16 I had a few oopsie moments. Completely forgot about an oil change appointment for the car until an hour after the time I was supposed to be there. Also whipped up a batch of cupcakes threw them in oven and left the house to go visit at my sister in laws. Rhett called me asking-why is the oven on & why are you baking something & where the heck are you?? I can not believe I did that!!! They were just a tad brown & burnt.

I bought my first book for the baby. Just could not resist because it is so sweet. Seriously just makes a tear looking at the cover. LOVE IT!

Wk 16 size of baby = AVOCADO
Weighing approx 4 oz
Grandma Simpson referred to baby as a quarter pounder. Haha!!
Rhett & I have been brainstorming names that we both like.
This might be a bit of a challenge.......
I would like to have the name be a surprise until the birth so we will see if that happens.
I have realized everyone is extremely vocal on opinions for names.
I do love all the older names so my child is most likely not going to have a current sounding name. I think honestly the older names are coming back so we will see.

My Mother gave me a goodie bag of clothes sometime during these 3 weeks. I didn't write it down so I can't remember what exact day. Cute, cute clothes!!!! Thanks Grandma!

Looking foward to my next drs appointment which is actually tomorrow. I am almost caught up on my weeks too so when I am blogging on belly weeks it will be on that current week. Yay!! Only took me a while to catch up.

Party Time!

I had a fantastic weekend off of work and took full advantage of it by staying busy. Friday I spent the day with my sweet little niece ROXY. Meghan's regular babysitter needed a few days off so family reinforcements got called on. Erin had Wed, Sunny had Thurs, & Fri was all mine! I was a little nervous because it has been a while since last watching a 4 month old for an entire day. Everything was just fine though. We went for a visit to my Mom's house, worked out with Darla, took a walk, & even made a grocery trip to Schnucks. Who says you can't get anything done with a baby on board....She is so laid back and such a good girl but in all honesty it was just a tad exhausting. I'm sure that I am really in for a reality check once my little dumpling arrives in October.

Roxy helping Aunt Sara work out! She absolutely loved the empty water bottle.

Saturday started off with Lindsey E's baby shower in New Baden. It was a wonderful party with great food, cute decorations, lots of baby gifts, and an adorable mommy to be. It really is a lot of fun being pregnant at the same time as your friends. We planned our weddings together and now having babies together!

Mommy & Daddy to BE!!!!!

I headed off to Troy for my cousin Kelsey's graduation party & Rhett's cousin Zach's graduation party. Worked out great that they were only about 5 minutes apart. I spent time at both places visiting with family and it was wonderful.

My beautiful cousins!!

Since it is a long drive home I headed back around 7ish. Meghan & Jason had a little get together that started at 4 so I swung by to see if it was still going on. What a great way to end the day! The kids all playing in the hot tub and adults just hanging out visiting. Rhett & Luke showed up once they were done working. To some it may not sound like much fun with all that driving and 4 parties in 1 day. To me it was fantastic not being stuck at work for a full weekend and missing out on family time. LOVE THEM ALL!

Sunday was the Strawberry Festival at out church in Ruma. It was hot hot hot but enjoyed working my shift and the yummy food. Rhett even got home from work before it was dark and we enjoyed our evening together. We were watching  the show "North America" on the Discovery Channel which proved to be too much for this sensitive Suzy. It started off showing a mother mountain goat with her new baby climbing down the cliffs of the Rockies. Then showed the goats crossing a large stream. When it came time for the baby to cross it was having trouble and was taken further down the stream before eventually making it to safety. I had my eyes covered and could hardly watch. I was seriously crying my eyes out when I finally looked and saw the little goat safe. Rhett is used to my craziness but I think he was a little surprised when he realized how upset I was. I know being pregnant makes your hormones crazy and it really doesn't help my case that I am sensitive to begin with. Literally I can watch a movie where 20 people die and I'm fine but watching a show on animals where one almost dies......I know I am a complete lunatic! Needless to say I didn't really enjoy the remainder of the show.

Overall I had a great weekend and am very much looking forward to next Saturday when I am off for 3 days in a row. My eldest niece graduates on Wed evening so bring on the tissues!!!

Snapshot of my Life

Belly Week 11, 12, 13

I still was not making daily journal entries at this point so just stealing my weekly writings from the belly book.

Obviously this was right before the long continuous monsoon of rain we got there for a while. At that time I was 12 weeks and as I write this I am 16. After Rhett planted that week he was unable to again until just a few days ago. Crazy weather!!! Last year we had that drought and had the worst possible year for the corn. This year no one has been able to even get much planted yet because of being so wet.

During week 13 I had my 3rd dr's appointment.
Weight gained to that date= 7 lbs
Size of baby= PEACH
Rhett did not go along for this appointment because he was busy with work. Erin, Jake, & Cole rode along to keep me company. Afterwards we ate at The Bread Co. which was delicious as always. Dr's appointments=eating out somewhere fun. I was extrememly nervous to meet Dr. Hucker. If you couldn't tell by now I am kinda a warm & fuzzy type of person.  Warm & Fuzzy is not a description the girls had for him. Erin just said don't do any whining to the Dr. because he doesn't want to hear it. I didn't expect him to be unfriendly or anything I was just anxious sitting there waiting. He came in and introduced himself, asked a few questions, made a few jokes, put the little doppler machine on top of my belly and that was it. Short & Sweet. When I texted Meg and told her that was how the appt went she laughed. She said I don't think Dr Hucker and sweet have ever been in the same sentence before. Ha! It was neat when I got to hear the hearbeat on top of the belly. The Dr. called baby a little ichobad. Whatever that means! Overall everything went fine and there was no need to even be nervous. I think he was actually surprised when I said no complaints or issues. Next appointment in 1 month and will be with Sylvia in the Sparta office. It is great that I can go right before work and not have to make extra trip to Belleville.

No back pain but very bad neck pain still so was going to the chiropractor on a weekly basis. Allie, Brandon, Avrie, Rhett & I went to Cornbread's worlds largest garage sale at the Fairmount Race Track in Collinsville. Got several gender neutral outfits. Rhett even picked one out that is so cute. The onsie has a bear on it and the pants are a camoflauge pattern of course. If we have a girl will just have to slap a big girlie bow on with that outfit. I found this cute one that still had the tags on it. Couldn't pass it up! Appropriate for our child for sure. Aunt Jaimee also gave me the cutest bibs!!
Thank you Thank you!

Happy "belated" Easter!

Belly Week 10
It is a miracle that we I kept the fact that I was pregnant from our families (minus my Mom & Sister) for almost 2 whole months. I will be the first to say that I am not a great secret keeper. I tried to think of fun ways to reveal our news instead of just blurting it out randomly. Since I am a card freak that was the perfect way to go. For Rhett's parents I printed up a card on Shutterfly with a picture from Hawaii. This one to be exact!

Just looking at this picture really makes me wish I was in that relaxation zone again. No stress, perfect weather, lots of yummy food, and NO work! I made the inside of the card blank so I could write a big long mushy message. It read a little something like this......Thank you again for letting us go to Hawaii. We really enjoyed ourselves. Also wanted to let you know that because of it your getting grandchild # 13!! Congrats! Love Rhett, Sara, & Baby Simpson.

We invited Margaret & Justin to go out to Red Lobster for supper on the Friday evening before Easter. The whole ride there I just wanted to blurt it out. It was an hour wait to be seated. Margaret was cold and wanted to stay inside while we waited. I insisted we go outside for just a little while. Rhett did not want to give them the card inside the restaurant just in case some screaming occurred. I handed the card over and patiently waited for reactions. They were wonderful!!! I feel that both were surprised, excited, & just plain happy. It was a great moment. We had a lovely rest of the evening as well. The next day I swung by Erin & Meghan's houses to deliver their cards. I made Easter cards that basically said "Happy Easter! Love Rhett, Sara, & Baby". Both had wonderful reactions. I also felt that they were very surprised which made it even better. That evening my parents and siblings all came to our house for supper. Even when they arrived I still didn't know how I was going to reveal the news to my brothers & Dad. Since men could give 2 cahoots about cards or anything else us girls like I was stumped as what to do...Andrew & his gf Rabecca brought their new puppy Biggs along. Of course my mother bought the sweet little pup an  Easter toy. Right after she gave it to Biggs I spouted out something about how next year she would have to buy baby toys instead of dog toys. No one really got it so then I said because I'm pregnant.......Insert ohhhs, ahhhs, yay!!- 3 men ya right. They all just kinda sat there and stared at me. I honestly think at first they all thought I was joking. I wish I could describe the look Andrew had on his face. Rabecca immediately jumped up and hugged me & she was excited.  I did get a thumbs up from Alex & a smile from my Dad. I know they were all happy but men just really don't express their feelings that well. Overall it was a great evening of visiting and family time.

Biggs with his new toys from Grandma!

On Easter Sunday we attended church and then went to Rhett's parents for brunch. I bought a cookie from Schnucks and had the bakery write on it. I sat it on the table and just waited for those who didn't know our news to notice it. Jeremy, Tracey, Rusty, & Janet all found out this day. It was pretty fun telling everyone in different ways and days. Tracey said she just had a feeling that we would make an announcement on Easter. She was right on the money! I also made phone calls to several aunts & Grandma Jefferson. Thank you to everyone for respecting my wishes to not put anything on facebook at that point in time. I had deactivated it for quite a while to help with the chances of nothing getting posted on my page.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend sharing our news with the whole family!

Ice Ice Baby

Belly Weeks 7,8,9

I was constantly tired & sick to my stomach so I am contributing that to the reason my journal entries stopped at week 6. I also became bloated & constipated which was a new thing for me. Nothing really would sound appetizing to eat until 2 minutes before I wanted it. During this time at one point I apologized to Rhett for not ever making supper. I think his response was, "You don't do anything anymore!" Yes dear that is right!!! Growing a baby is a lot of work so I am seriously slacking in every department possible. He was just teasing me but he was right. He was really being a trooper at this point because I did have moody days. Sometimes I'm totally OK with a messy house, lots of laundry, & eating out. One day after working out I got a horribly stiff neck. Not sure if we overdid it or what happened but it was not good. I wasn't even sure if I could use icy hot....After a quick call to the Dr's office they said yes as long as not on your belly or lower back. I swung by Wal-Mart after work bought icy hot & was slapping it on in the parking lot before driving home. After getting home from work I hopped in the shower not even thinking twice about it. BIG mistake! Never shower right away after using icy hot. My skin was on fire and burning like crazy. That was an experience I hope to never have again. On 3-27-13 had my second Dr's appointment. Baby was size of grape. Had first official US at the office. The machine used was an old dinosaur. Rhett went along so that was nice. Got to see the heartbeat and baby wiggling like a little worm. The heart rate was 167 and baby measured 2.25 cm @ 9 weeks. We met Sylvia the mid-wife. She is extremely friendly & comforting. Hopefully we will not have any issues and she will do the delivery. All my blood work from the 1st appointment was good. I found out that my blood type is O +. Next appointment in 1 month and will meet Dr. Hucker. Cravings at this point included ranch dressing, pizza, chicken strips, & pink lemonade. Things that totally repulsed me included yogurt and anything early in the day. The weirdest craving was a McDonald's cheeseburger. I had not eaten one of those in 2 years so it was totally random.

Week 10 we shared our news with the
ENTIRE
Family so tune in next time!!

Icky Sticky Feeling

BELLY WEEK 6

Remember how I was going on & on about how great I felt during week 5 and could eat any/everything. Enter week 6 and HELLO sick to my stomach feeling. I had to get up 3 am for work on a Saturday and from the moment I woke up-yuck. Walked out into the living room and the temperature was 83 degrees. (compliments of our lovely wood burning stove) That made me feel even worse. I never had the urge to actually throw up but my tummy just did not feel very good at all. I felt much better after getting to work and eating 4 saltines & drinking diet 7-up. Getting up that early not being pregnant is a chore so I should have known it would really suck once the morning sickness started. Plus I typically never get enough sleep the night before. At this point into my journey I was tired quite often & my boobs were sore 24/7. Which I have to say I have never had in my entire life so that was definitely new to my body. I recently had to buy bigger size bras too so lucky me. I have had big boobs since the flippin 4th grade so them getting bigger does not excite me one bit at all. Enough about my body parts that no one cares about anyways! It was lent season so we went out for supper in Renault for fish with Rhett's parents. We sat next to a group of mentally handicapped adults. I think they were with a group from the Human Service Center. The lady sitting directly next to me was named Rose. Margaret immediately made friends with her and they just talked & talked while we waited on our food. After she introduced Rhett as her son & I as her daughter-in-law Rose then placed her hand on my belly. She said,"Baby????" I said, "no not yet" & just laughed. Holy crap!!! I thought what in the heck this lady has some intuition. That was a very hard moment to not just say YES YES YES!!! I bet Margaret & Justin both would have jumped out of their seats had I said yes. It also snowed this week and we had an appraiser come to our house because of our refinancing. Normally I have the absolute worst sense of smell. I really started noticing how well I could smell everything. Depending on how you look at things this is either a blessing or hindrance. When working in a hospital and you enter a patients tiny room in the emergency department and it reeks like smoke= big downfall. It is amazing the amount of people who STINK. It really made me realize just how poor my sense of smell was before. (Now further along the increase in my sense of smell has decreased) This week baby really introduced lots of new things to me!
